As of day 1 of your cycle or period, you will go through about 5-7 days after the expulsion from an uncomfortable overripe egg and mucous membrane that lines the uterus. By about day 10-day 15, ovulation occurs. This is when the body releases hormones from glands, which makes the timing perfect for the sperm to fertilize the egg. Unfertilized egg can survive more than a 24 hour period. The sperm has an average lifespan of about 48 hours, while inside the female intestinal contents. Ideally, the sperm are waiting for the egg comes out. So if the semen begins his journey more than 48 hours before the egg reaches the oviduct, expires on sperm life. But if the journey begins more than approximately 22 hours after the egg arrives in the egg, the egg of life will be over, and a new period begins again. It is therefore only about a 72 hour window of time that each month in which a woman's eggs can be fertilized and she is considered fertile.

If a woman's egg was fertilized on day 15 of the cycle, will the egg move along the oviduct and eventually the implant itself in the wall of the uterus by a day to 24. This remains so during pregnancy next 260 days. This is the day that the embryonic heart begins a slow and irregular pulsation, which will even out to a systematic pattern of one more week.
